Thomas Plant are the
supplier of the renowned KitchenCraft range of domestic kitchen appliances.
Established for over 100 years, Thomas Plant are renowned for the quality of
their products, services and customer commitment that are hallmarks of a
long established family firm.
Their products are provided through many high street outlets and the larger
department stores throughout the UK and Europe.
Items from the KitchenCraft product range grace many a domestic kitchen and
are also used by many celebrity chefs.
Having such a wide and popular product range provides many challenges to
Andrew Plant, the Financial director of Thomas Plant and Co.
Andrew says "We like to feel that what we do as a company is fairly unique
and we would hate to be seen as "One of the general mould" in the industry,
we like to believe that every thing we do reflects the history and integrity
of our organisation and when we believe that doing things a certain way is
right for us and our customers, we want the technology we use to be able to
adapt and reflect that ideology to the outside world, but we do not want to
pay the earth to get it done".
Being adaptable technology that was capable of responding to Thomas Plants
needs at a reasonable cost is one of the major reasons why Andrew selected
Sabre FDI as their principle means of producing customer and supplier facing
documents from their ERP system.
Andrew continues "Faced with having many hundreds of order lines per
invoice, we needed the means to produce as little paper as possible, while
making the sheer bulk of the invoice detail clearly legible to the
recipient", "Sabre FDI uses intelligent transaction consolidation techniques
which eliminates any data in the output that is not relevant, reduces white
space and eliminates the need to use pre-printed stationary."
Email and
Fax
Thomas Plant e-mail and
fax their purchase orders to their many overseas suppliers. Detail of the
delivery method is collected either by the FDI ODBC link or from detail on
the document.
In many of their smaller outlets, the person who approves the invoices is
normally the person who places the orders. Context based images of new and
special offer products are placed on the invoices.
Recently, Thomas Plant have decided to change their ERP vendor. Sabre FDI
was invaluable in helping Thomas Plant maintain its outward Identity during
and after the change, merely by adapting the new output data to the existing
Sabre FDI mapping formats.
Thomas Plant also take advantage of the SabreARC archiving system which
eliminates the need for paper copies and is very useful for credit and
payment chasing. |
